Equipment

  • High-powered blender - Capable of crushing ice smoothly
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Freezer-safe container - For storing sliced banana
  • Tall glass - Or smoothie cup

Ingredients

  • 1 Large ripe banana - sliced and frozen at least 2 hours ahead
  • 1 cup Whole milk - 240ml, or milk of your choice
  • 1/2 cup Plain Greek yogurt - 120g, full-fat or 2%
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract - 5ml
  • 1 tablespoon Raw honey - 15ml, or maple syrup, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup Ice cubes - 75g

Instructions

  • Add the milk and Greek yogurt to the blender jar first.
  • Add the vanilla extract and honey or maple syrup.
  • Add the frozen banana slices and ice cubes on top.
  • Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds until smooth and thick.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness if desired.
  • Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a very ripe banana for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • Freeze banana slices in a single layer before transferring to a bag to prevent clumping.
  • Stick with plain yogurt and add honey separately for better control over sweetness.
  • If your blender struggles, let the frozen banana sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes before blending.
  • Add a pinch of ground cinnamon for a deeper vanilla flavor without extra sweetness.
  • Chill your glass in the freezer for a few minutes to keep the smoothie cold longer.
  • Measure the vanilla extract; too much can turn bitter, too little leaves the flavor flat.
  • For kids, start with less honey and add more to taste.
  • Keep a stash of pre-sliced frozen banana in the freezer so this smoothie is always quick to make.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours and shake or re-blend before drinking.
