1 cup mayonnaise 240ml 1/2 cup buttermilk 120ml 1/2 cup sour cream 120g 2 teaspoons dried parsley 4g 1 teaspoon dried dill weed 2g 1 teaspoon garlic powder 3g 1 teaspoon onion powder 3g 1/2 teaspoon salt 3g 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1g 1/4 teaspoon paprika 0.5g 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 15ml
Add mayonnaise, buttermilk, and sour cream to a mixing bowl and whisk until completely smooth with no lumps.
Add all dried seasonings (parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika) and whisk vigorously for 30 seconds.
Add fresh lemon juice and whisk for another 20-30 seconds until well combined.
Transfer to a glass jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to develop.
Use fresh buttermilk and check the expiration date for best flavor
The 1-hour refrigeration time is essential for the dried herbs to rehydrate and flavors to meld
For thinner dressing, add extra buttermilk 1 tablespoon at a time; for thicker dip consistency, use less buttermilk
Premium mayonnaise brands like Duke's make a noticeable difference in flavor
Use fresh lemon juice only - bottled lemon juice tastes artificial
Store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
Shake or stir before each use as ingredients may separate slightly
For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt
Add hot sauce and cayenne for spicy ranch, or crumbled bacon for bacon ranch
Let dressing sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving for easier pouring
