Glass mason jars - 16oz size for storing or serving
Vegetable peeler - for peeling kiwi
Handheld citrus juicer - for the lime
Silicone ice cube tray - (optional) if using ice
Reusable stainless steel straws - (optional)
Reusable silicone freezer bags - (optional) for pre-portioning frozen banana
- 4 kiwis - ripe, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 banana - large, sliced and frozen at least 2 hours ahead
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt - 240g
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk - 240ml
- 2 tablespoons honey - 30ml, plus more to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice - 15ml
- 1/2 cup ice cubes - 75g, optional, if you want it colder or thicker
- 4 fresh kiwi slices - optional, for garnish
Peel the kiwis with a peeler or paring knife, then roughly chop each into 2-3 chunks.
Pour the almond milk, Greek yogurt, honey, and lime juice into the blender jar in that order.
Add the chopped kiwi and frozen banana slices to the blender. Add ice cubes now if using.
Blend on low for 10 seconds, then increase to high and blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth. Scrape down sides if needed.
Taste and adjust consistency with extra almond milk or sweetness with more honey, blending briefly after each addition.
Pour into two glasses, garnish with a fresh kiwi slice on the rim if desired, and serve immediately.
- Use kiwis that give slightly when pressed for the best balance of sweetness and tartness.
- Pre-slice and freeze bananas in batches so they're always ready for smoothies.
- Add honey last and taste before blending it in, since kiwi and banana sweetness varies.
- Blend the liquid and yogurt for a few seconds before adding frozen fruit to help the blades build momentum.
- If the smoothie separates after sitting, a quick stir brings it back together.
- Skip the ice if your banana is well frozen to avoid diluting the kiwi flavor.
- Chill your glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before pouring for a colder drink.
- Don't over-blend past the smooth point, as extended blending can warm and thin the mixture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake or stir before drinking.
- Freeze leftover smoothie in popsicle molds for a frozen treat instead of refrigerating.
