Equipment

Ingredients

For Serving (Optional)

  • Roasted vegetables - such as Brussels sprouts or carrots
  • Creamed spinach
  • Hashbrown casserole
  • Coleslaw
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Corn on the cob
  • Homemade biscuit
  • Sourdough focaccia
  • Deviled eggs
  • Healthy bruschetta
  • Velveeta mac and cheese

Instructions

  • Let chicken breasts sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then pat completely dry with paper towels.
  • Pound thicker ends to 1-inch thickness, then trim excess fat or connective tissue.
  • Mix garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne in a small bowl.
  • Brush each breast with olive oil, then sprinkle seasoning generously on both sides and rub in.
  • Lay two slightly overlapping bacon slices on a board and place a chicken breast in the center.
  • Wrap bacon around the chicken, covering as much surface as possible, and secure with 2-3 toothpicks.
  • Repeat for remaining chicken breasts, tucking loose bacon ends underneath.
  • Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3-5 minutes and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
  • Place breasts in a single layer without touching, and cook for 10 minutes undisturbed.
  • Flip carefully with tongs and cook for 8-10 more minutes until internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • If bacon needs more crispness, increase heat to 400°F for 2-3 additional minutes.
  • Remove from air fryer, tent with foil, and let rest for 5 minutes before removing toothpicks and serving.

Notes

  • Use thin-cut bacon for the crispiest results; thick-cut won't cook through properly in the time needed for chicken.
  • Never overcrowd the air fryer basket—leave at least 1 inch between each breast for proper air circulation.
  • Always use a meat thermometer to check doneness; chicken should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
  • Pat chicken completely dry before seasoning to help the bacon crisp up rather than steam.
  • Let chicken rest at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking for more even results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (177°C) for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • For variations, try stuffing with cheese, swapping seasonings, or glazing with BBQ sauce in the last 5 minutes.
  • Freeze cooked chicken individually wrapped for up to 3 months; thaw before reheating.
  • If bacon isn't crispy after chicken is cooked, finish at 400°F for 2-3 minutes, watching closely.
