  6. Pour the remaining ยฝ cup (120ml) of enchilada sauce evenly over the top tortilla layer, spreading gently to coat all the tortillas. Sprinkle the remaining 1ยฝ cups (170g) of shredded Mexican cheese blend evenly over the surface.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake on the center rack for 20 minutes, allowing the steam to soften the tortilla layers and meld everything together.
  8. Carefully remove the foil and return the casserole to the oven for an additional 10โ€“15 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and beginning to turn golden brown in spots.
  9. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before cutting to allow the layers to set. Serve topped with sour cream, fresh cilantro, sliced jalapeรฑos, avocado or guacamole, and lime wedges.
